63/166  - Fake jade

For the twenty eighth day of 366 creative days I have posted a fake jade attempt of a pendant made of noodles and beads, along with a some other tests. Gives a bit of Maya jewelry impression.

Fake jade polymer clay Mayan pendants

 Materials

1 - 1 x 104 + 1 x 404 + 1/2 x 504 transparent Fimo polymer clay for light green
2 -  1 x 104 + 1x 404 + 1/2 x 374 transparent Fimo polymer clay for mustard olive
3 -  1 x 80 + a pinch of 43
4 - sand (mix of dark and white)
5 - liquid Kato polymer clay
6 - cinnamon powder, tiny sticks, various other "dirt that might look interesting in the jade
7 - 1 x 50 + 1 x 10 polymer clay
8 - 1 x 50 + a pinch of white

1 - roller
2 - pasta machine

c - Techniques

 1 - Mix the colors together separate by shade by using a pasta machine
 2 - Chop the blended (1, 2) polymer clay into small bits and pieces and mix it with some sand, cinnamon and other "dirt"
3 - Mix 3 with a bit of sand for making the base for the pendant, then flatten it at a 2 mm thickness
4 - Make the bead and pendant shapes and stamp them with various designs
5 - Leftover jade extrude with a polymer clay extruder, same for 7 and 8, will fasten the process.
6 - Thin a bit more the "noodles" using your finger
7 - Brush the base using a brush with liquid Kato polymer clay, and start arranging the polymer clay jade noodles using your imagination.
8 - Bake as described on package (110 C) on a piece of baking paper

I'm trying to find the pendant for some time, somehow, it got lost when I changed flats along with another necklace.
I really loved the pendant, after baking, the polymer clay become slightly transparent and give a very interesting touch along with non transparent colored clay.

Extruded polymer clay stripes - 31 of 366 creative days

  For the thirty first day of 366 creative days I have done some testing with extruded polymer clay rainbow stripes from those logs done in the third day.

 
 You can see the stripe combination before extruding and after extruding you can see the heads, tail and two randoms middle. The extruded shape square is about 5 mm, so it wasn't a good idea, probably with more material and a bigger extruder gun would look better.
  I like the rainbow variation very much, I will try on white next time, maybe some transparent as well when I will get my hands on some.

Turquoise - emerald PMC earrings - 28 of 366 creative days

  For the twenty eighth day of 366 creative days I have finished a pair of polymer clay earrings that I started in the turquoise - emerald polymer clay beads on the sixth day. I used some glass beads and silver plated metal beads and a tube as well.
  The wire is actually metallic thread silver,emerald and green, around 0.7mm each and I used 7 for a 4 thread kumihimo braid.

     If they are seen from more than a meter distance the wire is almost invisible and they look like floating under the ear.

PMC extruder canes earrings - 26 of 366 creative days

   For the twenty sixth day I finished a pair of polymer clay earrings from some previous tries on extruded canes with some leftover oranges, transparent and matte as well with some canes from the turquoise emerald beads on sixth day.

  For the twenty two creative day I decided is time to work on something that will actually have a presentable end, something that will look like a jewelry of some sort.
  So I choose the theme: the four elements.

 For twentieth day I have done few molds and their negatives for stamping and more insertion molds I plan doing in the future. I have done them using polymer clay Fimo effect transparent, cause I want to use them as color mixing example as well.

  My favorites are the 2+9, 2+7 and 3+4 combination, the 3+4 can get a special hill type effect inside due to the mica shifting in the metallic gold.

2. Skinner blend color mix

3. Polymer clay gradient Ikat

          1 - Make skinner blend and squish them perpendicular to the colors  and get a 3 cm tube, then run trough a pasta machine to look like in the picture, usually on highest setting
          2 - Add some stripes of a contrasting color random on a tube of skinner blend, parallel with the colors then run them once fold, repeat this until your getting the color stripes result you want, the cut them and add them on top of each other. After that If you pass them trough a pasta machine perpendicular on colors, without thinking at what you want to use them, you will get the result on the image 3.
          3 - Place some colors and some other patterns on a bead, place the transparent acrylic sheet on top and start moving in circles(20-100 times, yes, you can pretend you do some fitness but the only thing you will get bigger is your wrists)

c - Techniques

2. Tube to be extruded and Mokume gane layers

          1 -I made the tube layers of different sizes, vary between 1 and 6, depending on the mat left from each material. Cut 3 disks for each material and also added some turquoise dried and run trough a pasta machine( was looking more like rice) as a disk.
          2 - For the layers I run them at setting 8, then placed each contrasting 3 together and between them silver leaf.
          3 -For the blocks in image 3 I got all the rest materials cut them very very small and mixed them with a 10 cm/5cm silver leaf or gold(the smaller one) and made a block of out them keeping them as natural as possible.
          4 - Beads and drops are made from scrap left from the Mokume gane layers.

          5 - To make the turquoise beads I used paint with turquoise bits and left it to dry 1-2 days then put it all together and when I needed I cut chunks of it in small bits again and mixing it with 1xwhite+2xturquoise polymer clay

Nice photos - Romania travel

 Since I decided to do this all the way and without too much worrying caring or planning I will start posting pictures that I made and actually liked. I will randomly browse through some old directories and I will pop them here.
    Photos were taken on a trip I made in 2004 with a good friend, a 2MP camera, was a blast at that time and we were happy to have it .

 Strange anonymous painting in Biertan fortified church. It was place behind the altar, so if you went on the left side and looked at the the eyes, they were looking back at you, and check out the feet direction as well.

 If you went on the right side and looked at the eyes, they were looking back at you again, and check out the feet direction again. If you check out the picture in detail there are few more things that "move" towards you. This illusion effect gave me a really weird feeling at that time, scary a bit.

  I tried to find a better picture over the internet, but nobody said anything about it on any site regarding this church. Maybe it was removed.
